    Gluten Free Canapes

'I LOVE making canapés! Being a caterer friends and clients often ask me what my favourite dish to prepare is. Well, I get a huge amount of pleasure from making canapés.

You are creating a meal in the form of a morsel and have the opportunity to mix some great flavours.

I also love the way they look on the platter. It’s important to present them beautifully and that appeals to my artistic side.' Jennie

These days it is common to enquire about your guests’ dietary requirements when hosting a party. The Pop-Up Dining Room will always provide a vegetarian option, but can also cater for vegans, nut allergies and those who are gluten free on request.

Thanks to the likes of Amelia Freer and Deliciously Ella, gluten free cooking has currently become more accessible for everyone with many people trying a gluten free diet for health benefits. This certainly makes things easier for those who are completely allergic to gluten as we all now have a larger repertoire for scrumptious, alternative treats.

    Top Tips:

Prepare canapés for different dietary needs separately.

Make sure that all sauces are gluten free.

Most supermarkets have a great range of free from products these days. You can use some of the gluten free crackers or breads as a base for some canapés. Read the online reviews to discover which are the best.

Even the wine used in cooking needs to be carefully selected to avoid contamination. (Old world wine typically uses wooden barrels lined with wheat paste and therefore new world wines must be chosen).
