    Winter BBQs

    Winter BBQs

At The Pop-Up Dining Room, winter is our favourite season. Why limit your outdoor festivities to summer? Hold a Scandi style knees-up in November or December where everyone can take a moment to gather together amidst the busy build up to Christmas or what about having an alternative Christmas party out in the garden or neighbouring field?

Imagine wrapping up warm and heading outside with a collection of friends and family to enjoy hot food, mulled cocktails, the conversation buzzing around the fire pit or inside the marquee where branches are strung with twinkling lights. What a magical evening! Here we give you tips and ideas for your own winter BBQ.

    Keeping warm

As with clothing, layers are our best friend for decorating The Pop-Up Dining Room Marquee as well.  We can create avenue that doesn’t cold even on the crispest evening. A truly cosy setting comes from adding a perfect blend of Scottish tartan rugs and Nordic sheep skins on all the chairs and enough candles or warm hued string lights to light a church! Strategically intersperse the candles between bowls of piping hot jacket potatoes and chargrilled winter vegetables.

    Perfect lighting

Creating a seasonal central lighting display is huge fun.  Bare branches suspended over wooden tables, dripping with glass jars and balls filled with evergreen foliage both with LED tea lights in will extend the warm glow right up to the top of the marquee.

    Drinks

The informality of a winter BBQ adds to the enjoyment of it.  Serve cockle warming mulled wine and cider in tumblers allowing guests to curl their hands round the glasses and gather round the BBQ whilst your seasonal feast is cooking.

    Preparing the food

Once the marquee is suitably cocooned, it's time to get the food onto the BBQ. A popular Pop-Up Dining Room winter treasure is marinated pheasant with cider apples and pearl onions.  Try serving it with jacket potatoes and chargrilled seasonal vegetables.

    Fire pit

A winter BBQ would not be complete without a fire pit.  Everyone can drag their chairs and rugs out of the marquee, put some music on, surround the open fire and roast marshmallows for pudding.  A recipe for a perfect night.

Does the idea of throwing a party seem a bit much in between the other seasonal engagements and preparations? Why not allow us to throw it for you? The Pop-Up Dining Room can be popped up and decorated in your garden, work venue or nearby field, on grass or on concrete.

We can do the catering for you, staying to serve or leaving you with carefully prepared dishes. Then the whole thing is washed up, taken down and tidied away. You are left free to enjoy the moment without it being an effort.
